Senior Project Manager - Construction

About the role

A senior Project Manager is sought in Accra to lead construction projects, defining scope, plans and budgets and keeping them on track. The role covers planning, team leadership, risk management, stakeholder relations and project close-out, and includes mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines and budgets with the Construction Manager
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules and work breakdown structures
• Lead and motivate project teams, allocating tasks and resources
• Monitor progress, costs and quality and take corrective action
• Identify, assess and manage risks and issues, with clear escalation paths
• Manage relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and regulatory bodies
• Ensure compliance with Ghanaian laws, regulations, licensing, permits and health and safety standards
• Prepare status reports, budget forecasts and presentations for senior management and clients
• Run project close-out, including handover, lessons learned and final reporting
• Mentor junior team members and improve project management processes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management or a related field
• At least 8 years of project management experience, delivering projects on time and on budget
• Desirable: PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP or equivalent; Master's degree (e.g. MBA or MSc)
• Desirable: experience managing large-scale building projects across multiple sectors

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Waterfall, Agile or hybrid project management methodologies
• Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera and Microsoft Office
• Budgeting, financial and risk management
• Leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management
• Planning, problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
