PYP Coordinator

About the role

The Assistant School Coordinator supports the Head of School and PYP Coordinator in maintaining high academic standards, curriculum alignment, operational efficiency and cross-school collaboration. The role combines morning classroom teaching with afternoon leadership and coordination, focusing on curriculum alignment, programme monitoring, reporting systems and after-school programme oversight. It is a developmental role preparing the post-holder for higher leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate the public speaking programme and creative writing experiences, with high-quality lesson planning aligned to the curriculum map and course completion documents.
• Ensure weekly plans for Nursery to Year 6 are aligned with curriculum maps, monitor book completion and syllabus coverage, and review lesson planning for consistency and progression.
• Support teachers in designing concept-driven units of inquiry based on the five PYP elements, and guide formative and summative assessment aligned with IB standards.
• Oversee the PYP Exhibition, ensure inquiry-based teaching is embedded, and reinforce IB Learner Profile attributes and international-mindedness.
• Lead collaborative planning sessions, coordinate field trips and guest speakers, and plan and run IB-related school events.
• Maintain IB PYP documents, the Programme of Inquiry, scope and sequence documents, and a complete archive of unit planners and exhibition records; keep the shared drive up to date.
• Manage the Toddle platform: train teachers, support its use, and create and manage report cards across schools.
• Monitor homework systems, book checks and corrections, and support data tracking for academic performance and reporting.
• Inform staff about professional development, recommend opportunities, and record attendance and needs.
