Rigger & Ropesman – Mining Operations

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised, high‑efficiency operation. We are looking for an experienced Rigger and Ropesman to join our underground mining team and ensure safe, reliable lifting and rigging activities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair lifting and rigging equipment in accordance with company standards and legislation.
• Operate hoisting and moving loads, selecting appropriate gear (cables, pulleys, winches) based on weight and size.
• Test rigging assemblies for safety and reliability before use.
• Install ground rigging, yarding lines and anchorage for machinery.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces using chain falls or similar devices.
• Store and issue rigging tools and special equipment from a dedicated store.
• Stop operations when a high‑risk condition is identified and report to the Ropes Specialist.

Required profile

• Secondary education (minimum).
• Mobile Crane Riggers certificate.
• Mincom Certificate of Competency.
• At least 3 years proven experience in rigging, preferably in construction or mining.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools and perform equipment maintenance.
