Senior Procurement Officer (Surgical)

About the role

The Senior Procurement Officer (Surgical) leads the sourcing and purchasing of all surgical‑related items, ensuring that clinical and non‑clinical consumables are available to meet the centre’s demand. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the role combines strategic procurement planning with day‑to‑day supplier and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for surgical, clinical and non‑clinical consumables.
• Manage inventory levels, stock control and coordinate with stores to prevent shortages and waste.
• Generate purchase requests, purchase orders and maintain data accuracy in the Hospital Information System.
• Negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance and ensure value‑for‑money purchases.
• Collaborate with finance to ensure timely supplier payments and with internal stakeholders to align supply with service needs.
• Prepare delivery reports and maintain effective communication with vendors and internal teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of supply chain or procurement experience in health‑care or medical centres.
• Proven experience in category management, high‑value medical contracts and various procurement models.
• Strong negotiation abilities and knowledge of dispute‑resolution tools.
• Experience in strategic procurement planning, team performance management and change programmes.
