Senior Procurement Officer – Surgical Supplies

About the role

The Senior Procurement Officer (Surgical) leads the sourcing and purchasing of all surgical, clinical and non‑clinical consumables for the centre. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the role ensures that the right products are available at the right time, cost and quality to support uninterrupted patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for surgical items, aligning with organisational goals and supply‑chain KPIs.
• Manage end‑to‑end purchasing processes, including purchase requests, order generation and data entry in the Hospital Information System.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels, coordinate with stores and finance to ensure timely supplier payments, and prevent stock shortages or waste.
• Negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance, and uphold value‑for‑money principles.
• Prepare delivery reports, maintain accurate records, and act as deputy for other procurement officers when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in supply‑chain management, preferably within health‑care or medical centres.
• Proven track record in category management, high‑value medical contracts and various procurement models.
• Strong negotiation abilities and familiarity with dispute‑resolution tools.
• Experience in strategic procurement planning, multi‑tier supplier environments and change‑management programmes.
