Senior Specialist, Mining Construction

About the role

Lead and oversee the coordination and execution of mining construction projects at the Obuasi Mine, ensuring safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of underground infrastructure. Provide expert advice to guarantee compliance with approved designs, engineering standards and the Mineral and Mining (Health and Safety and Technical) Regulations 2012.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate at least 30 % of time to support site safety compliance and promote a zero‑harm culture.
• Maintain a minimum 60 % underground presence to validate designs, support execution teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Facilitate communication between project engineering, planning and construction teams and coordinate with QA/QC engineers.
• Develop detailed construction plans, level‑6 schedules and monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, manage risk assessments, and ensure adherence to statutory codes and regulations.
• Lead operational readiness, commissioning and handover of mining infrastructure.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining, Mechanical, Structural, Civil or related engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of underground mining experience with exposure to infrastructure or project‑focused roles.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence.
• Additional training in project management or underground infrastructure planning is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
• Strong command of the MS Office Suite.
