Specialist, Data Privacy and Protection (Commercial)

About the role

MTN Ghana is hiring a Specialist, Data Privacy and Protection (Commercial) in its Risk & Compliance division, reporting to the Manager, Data Privacy and Protection. The role implements and maintains policies and procedures protecting subscriber information, in line with laws, telecom regulations and MTN Ghana's data privacy practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing data privacy policies and procedures, including under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
• Maintain data inventories and data-flow maps, and carry out and document Data Protection Impact Assessments for projects, systems and services involving personal data.
• Monitor compliance, flag and report risks or breaches, and support privacy audits, assessments and evidence gathering.
• Process and track data-subject requests such as access, rectification and erasure within regulatory timelines.
• Work with commercial divisions to embed data protection into business processes and put in place technical and organisational safeguards.
• Maintain privacy compliance records, support awareness and training, and follow legal and industry developments.
• Prepare reports and dashboards on privacy KPIs, risks and compliance, and contribute to cross-functional privacy projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Administration or Law (LLB).
• Data Protection Supervisor certification issued by the Data Protection Commission.
• At least three years of relevant experience; understanding of the technology industry is an advantage.
• Experience working across diverse cultures in a medium to large organisation.
