Sustainability Lead

About the role

The Sustainability Lead will shape and execute Old Mutual’s ESG strategy, ensuring it aligns with regulatory expectations, industry best practices and the company’s long‑term objectives. You will champion sustainability across underwriting, investment and operational functions, embedding responsible practices throughout the business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, refine and implement the organisation’s sustainability and ESG roadmap in line with corporate strategy.
• Integrate sustainability goals into enterprise planning and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and global standards.
• Monitor emerging ESG regulations, disclosure requirements and market expectations, providing insights on climate‑related risks.
• Lead sustainability projects from concept to delivery, managing budgets, resources, timelines and reporting progress to senior leadership.
• Engage internal teams and external stakeholders—including regulators, industry bodies and community partners—to embed sustainability principles.
• Prepare ESG performance reports and sustainability disclosures in accordance with international standards.
• Identify opportunities for green insurance products and sustainable investment strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to act decisively, collaborate across functions and communicate effectively.
• Strong accountability, trust‑building and complexity‑management skills.
