Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced, self‑motivated Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor to maintain and improve TSF operations, ensuring physical and chemical stability throughout the mine life and subsequent land use.

Key responsibilities

• Promote AGA Safety, Health and Environmental actions and comply with the AGA TSF framework.
• Maintain TSF key performance indicators such as freeboard, pool distances and depth, following SOPs.
• Inspect tailings delivery lines and provide feedback to operations, environmental and plant control teams.
• Supervise daily activities of TSF contractors.
• Plan and coordinate fumigation activities to control reptiles in operational areas.
• Drive housekeeping, loss control and discipline among the TSF crew.
• Investigate equipment‑related safety and environmental issues and implement corrective actions.
• Control and reduce operational and engineering costs.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Water and Tailings Specialist.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical or Hydrogeological Engineering (or equivalent).
• Certificate of competence from the Minerals Commission (advantage).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar TSF supervisory role (or 7 years without the stated degree).
• Ability to work with little or no supervision and strong decision‑making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Geotechnical and hydrogeological analysis of tailings facilities.
• Assessment of TSF stability, seepage and hydraulic separation.
• Identification and mitigation of geological hazards such as landslides, erosion, flooding and earthquakes.
• Emergency response planning for TSF incidents.
• Liaison with environmental teams on restoration projects.
