Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor to ensure the physical and chemical stability of the TSF throughout the mine’s life and subsequent land use.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and implement AGA Safety, Health and Environmental actions.
• Maintain TSF key performance indicators such as freeboard, pool distances and depth in line with SOPs.
• Inspect tailings delivery lines and communicate findings to operations, environmental and plant teams.
• Supervise daily activities of TSF contractors.
• Plan and coordinate fumigation of TSF areas to control reptiles.
• Drive housekeeping, loss control and discipline within the TSF crew.
• Investigate equipment‑related safety and environmental issues and take corrective action.
• Control and reduce operational and engineering costs.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Water and Tailings Specialist.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical or Hydrogeological Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar TSF supervisory role (or 7 years without the degree).
• Certificate of competence from the Minerals Commission – advantage.
• Strong decision‑making, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.

• Geotechnical analysis of tailings facilities.
• Hydrogeological assessment and seepage analysis.
• Tailings stability modelling.
• Hazard assessment (landslides, soil erosion, flooding, earthquakes).
• Liaison with environmental teams for restoration projects.
