Venture Builder, Health Tech (Africa)
500 Global · Brong-Ahafo Region
Job description
About the role
500 Global is looking for a Venture Builder to lead the creation of new health tech ventures in Africa, from problem validation through to launch and first funding. You will work alongside corporate partners, local ecosystem collaborators and founding teams to turn validated opportunities into investable companies. This is a hands-on operator role: you will build, not just advise.
Key responsibilities
- Source and identify potential founders or early-stage companies in healthcare/healthtech across Africa and onboard them into the Venture Building program.
- Help founders validate opportunities in African health markets, structure customer discovery with patients, providers, payers and public health stakeholders, and turn market insight into evidence-based decisions.
- Guide founders through the venture-building journey, sharpening the thesis, identifying critical assumptions and prioritising validation questions.
- Support customer, business model and go-to-market validation, including designing and interpreting experiments on pricing, willingness to pay and early commercial demand.
- Help founders address key risks such as commercial, technical, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing and market-access issues.
- Help founders build their early-stage team, assess potential hires and connect them to talent networks.
- Connect founders to expertise, resources and market access, including Bosch technical experts, specialist mentors, customers, pilot partners and ecosystem relationships.
- Prepare founders for investment and scale, strengthening milestones, unit economics, financial assumptions, fundraising narratives and evidence for pre-seed funding.
- Report progress, milestones, KPIs and impact outcomes to internal stakeholders and corporate partners.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience building or scaling health tech startups in Africa, ideally as founder, co-founder or early operator; direct venture building experience is a strong plus.
- A track record of taking at least one health product from idea to market in an African context.
- Working knowledge of health systems in one or more African markets, including how care is delivered, paid for and regulated.
- Strong commercial instincts, including unit economics, pricing and partnerships with public and private sector actors.
- Network across African health and startup ecosystems (clinicians, operators, investors, DFIs, NGOs).
- Comfort working in ambiguity, across multiple stakeholders, with a high degree of autonomy.
- English proficiency; regional languages a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with medical devices or connected hardware.
- Exposure to corporate venture building or corporate innovation units.
- Background in impact measurement or working with development finance partners.
- Clinical, public health or biomedical engineering background.
