Vice Chancellor – University Executive Leadership

About the role

The Vice Chancellor serves as the academic and administrative head of Koforidua Technical University, acting as the chief executive officer responsible for steering the institution toward its vision of excellence in science, technology, and applied research.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the university’s academic, financial, and administrative operations in alignment with the statutes and Council directives.
• Ensure efficient delivery of teaching, research, and community‑engagement activities.
• Develop and implement strategic plans that foster industry collaboration and resource mobilisation.
• Oversee staff motivation, performance management, and crisis handling.
• Represent the university nationally and internationally to enhance its reputation and attract partnerships.

Required profile

• Hold a professorial status with a research postgraduate (preferably terminal) degree.
• Be an internationally recognised academic or distinguished scholar.
• Demonstrated capacity to motivate, manage, and direct large academic and support staff.
• Extensive senior administrative experience within higher education.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis‑management abilities.
• Visionary leadership with a strong sense of industry relevance and the ability to forge university‑industry collaborations.
• Proven track record in fundraising and resource development for research and development.
• Deep understanding of challenges facing technical universities in Ghana.
• Ability to serve a full four‑year term before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
