Winder Engineer – Electrical

About the role

The Winder Engineer – Electrical will join AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi underground mining team to ensure the winding equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards. This role is critical for maximizing plant availability while complying with all operational, engineering, and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control the quality of maintenance for winding equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards.
• Apply HSE regulations, conduct inspections, audits, JHAs and drive continuous improvement of safety performance.
• Investigate injuries, incidents and environmental events, develop corrective action plans and ensure zero reportable incidents.
• Collect and analyse data to demonstrate compliance with Ghanaian approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Lead the underground maintenance team, define roles, recruit, train and develop staff in line with localisation objectives.
• Communicate policies, provide technical guidance and develop a skills matrix to address any capability gaps.

Required profile

• Experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in winding equipment maintenance.
• Self‑motivated, safety‑focused and able to lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Proven ability to work in a high‑risk mining environment and manage compliance with HSE standards.
