Biomedical Engineer

About the role

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research seeks an innovative Biomedical Engineer to support its research objectives. You will collaborate with life scientists, chemists, and medical scientists to develop and maintain cutting‑edge biomedical technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and configure biomedical machines, equipment, and associated software.
• Design and prototype biomedical devices such as artificial organs, diagnostic tools, and treatment equipment.
• Evaluate safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment and software.
• Maintain, repair, and provide technical support for all biomedical assets.
• Maintain accurate service histories and documentation for equipment.
• Train clinicians, scientists, and staff on safe and effective equipment use.
• Research new materials, technologies, and engineering aspects of biological systems.
• Prepare reports, protocols, and policy documents related to equipment use and maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license where applicable.
• Minimum two years of relevant biomedical engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
