Paramedic / Emergency Medical Technician – Accra

About the role

Respond to emergency medical calls, assess patients’ conditions and provide first‑aid treatment on site, then transport patients safely to medical facilities. Additional duties include maintaining equipment, filing reports and moving patients between hospitals or other facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the emergency response team.
• Assess injury severity and initiate appropriate medical procedures.
• Provide emergency treatment such as medication, pain relief, IV infusions and wound dressing.
• Operate life‑support equipment including bag‑valve‑mask resuscitators, external defibrillators and ECG monitors.
• Drive the ambulance to the location directed by the medical dispatcher and monitor patient condition en route.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance and maintain medical equipment.
• Prepare and submit accurate incident reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in paramedical science or equivalent medical training.
• At least one year of paramedic experience.
• Valid EMT‑P certification/EMS license and CPR certification.
• Emergency response training (e.g., ALS) and a clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and medications.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• High level of fitness, stamina and physical agility.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends and national holidays.
