Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Western Region

About the role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will support mining operations in the Western Region by overseeing slope stability monitoring, hazard reporting, and geotechnical data management. The role involves close collaboration with production teams to ensure design parameters are met and contributes to geological mapping and budgeting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement slope stability monitoring strategies and produce regular hazard reports.
• Maintain and update the geotechnical database with field and laboratory data.
• Log diamond drill holes and ensure accurate geotechnical documentation.
• Liaise with mine production to verify that design parameters are achieved on site.
• Review and validate design slope parameters against engineering standards.
• Assist with geological mapping activities within the pit.
• Support the Chief Mine Geologist in preparing departmental budgets.
• Perform any other assigned duties related to geotechnical engineering.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Degree in Geology or a related discipline.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and geological teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D mining software, preferably Surpac.
• Experience using specialist geotechnical software tools.
• Good computer skills for data analysis and reporting.
