Analyst, Digital Forensics

About the role

The Analyst, Digital Forensics will conduct digitally‑enabled fraud investigations and forensic examinations to support detection, investigation, and prevention of fraud, misconduct, and cyber‑related incidents. The role operates within MTN’s Internal Audit & Forensics department and reports to the Manager, Digital Forensics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform forensic acquisition, preservation, and analysis of digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, servers, cloud applications, and network logs.
• Maintain strict chain of custody, applying write‑blocking, hashing, and verified imaging techniques.
• Utilise industry‑standard tools such as Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, Axiom, and X‑Ways to recover deleted, encrypted, or hidden data.
• Conduct memory forensics, timeline analysis, and malware triage as required.
• Lead or support complex fraud investigations covering employee misconduct, vendor fraud, revenue leakage, and cyber‑fraud.
• Develop investigation plans, gather documentary and testimonial evidence, conduct interviews, and produce comprehensive reports.
• Identify root causes, control weaknesses, and systemic risks, recommending remediation measures.

Required profile

• MTN Level 2 classification (internal mid‑level designation).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal audit and forensic teams.

Required skills

• Forensic acquisition and preservation techniques (write‑blocking, hashing, imaging).
• Proficiency with Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, Axiom, X‑Ways.
• Memory forensics, timeline analysis, malware triage.
• Experience handling digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, servers, cloud services, and network logs.
