Chief Housekeeper

About the role

The Chief Housekeeper leads the entire housekeeping operation aboard a cruise vessel, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, efficient, and personalized cleaning and butler services to guests and crew. This senior position is responsible for maintaining the ship’s standards, upholding public health requirements, and driving guest satisfaction throughout each voyage.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all housekeeping activities in guest suites, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces, guaranteeing compliance with company policies and health standards.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of the vessel to identify and resolve issues promptly, maintaining operational excellence.
• Interact with guests to anticipate needs, respond to requests, and handle complaints with immediate attention.
• Manage the housekeeping team’s schedule, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Monitor guest satisfaction metrics, review comment cards, and implement improvements based on feedback.
• Ensure VIP and suite procedures are executed correctly at embarkation and perform random suite checks.
• Maintain accurate administrative records, including training logs, employee files, and corrective actions.
• Prepare cruise reports, track operational costs, and liaise with HR on personnel matters.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in hospitality housekeeping, preferably on cruise ships or luxury hotels.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive guest‑service mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain high standards.
• Knowledge of public health regulations and compliance procedures.
