About the role
WSP is seeking an Intermediate Tailings Engineer to join its Mine Waste team on a renewable fixed‑term basis in Accra, Ghana. The role involves delivering tailings and geotechnical services for mining projects, acting as a key technical link between senior and junior staff, and providing expert advice to internal and external clients.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and analyse tailings and geotechnical data for design, inspection, and construction supervision of mine waste storage facilities.
- Provide technical advice on complex tailings issues, including stability, seepage, and closure planning.
- Supervise quality assurance for earthwork and liner installation on tailings dams.
- Lead health and safety initiatives on project sites.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to proposal development and technical reporting.
Required profile
- Intermediate level with strong general technical skills and emerging specialist expertise in tailings or geotechnical engineering.
- Ability to work independently on moderate‑complexity tasks and make decisions with senior staff input.
- Effective communication with clients and internal teams.
- Understanding of WSP business systems and quality standards.
