Accountant – Microcredit Institution

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Accountant to join Gate Savers Micro credit, a growing micro‑credit institution serving the Accra and Tema regions. The role involves managing payroll, handling day‑to‑day accounting tasks, and supporting loan portfolio reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Process full payroll for staff and ensure timely disbursement.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, track expenses and perform reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and statements.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with Ghanaian tax and regulatory requirements.
• Support loan portfolio accounting, including interest calculations and impairment provisions.
• Assist with audits, budgeting and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Implement and monitor internal controls tailored to a micro‑credit environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in microfinance, banking or a similar sector.
• Chartered Accountant qualification or actively pursuing Level 2 or Level 3 of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., ACCA, CA Ghana, ICAEW).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Ghana tax regulations.
• High level of accuracy, integrity and ability to meet tight deadlines.
