Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Zof AI is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to own the services, APIs, and data layer that power its AI agent fleets. You will work in a fast‑moving, high‑performance environment building reliable backend systems that support long‑running AI workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the services and APIs used by agent fleets.
• Implement job orchestration and queueing for long‑running agent tasks.
• Own PostgreSQL schema design, migrations, and query performance as data scales.
• Develop storage and retrieval paths for evidence and validation artifacts produced by agents.
• Instrument services for observability, debugging, and recovery.
• Ensure reliability through testing, retries, idempotency, and back‑pressure handling.
• Collaborate with product and AI engineers to turn agent behavior into stable interfaces.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and shipping backend services in production.
• Strong software‑engineering fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with APIs, message queues, and asynchronous job processing.
• Ability to debug performance and correctness issues in live systems.
• Habit of writing tests and providing evidence before shipping code.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort operating in a fast‑moving environment.
