Software Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will own end‑to‑end quality across three tightly coupled platforms – a payment gateway, a merchant portal and a consumer mobile app. You will design, build and maintain cross‑surface automated test suites, ensure test data integrity and act as the gatekeeper for every production release.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain an end‑to‑end automated smoke and regression suite that spans API, web and mobile layers, covering critical journeys such as merchant onboarding, transaction processing and webhook delivery.
• Manage sandbox environments, deterministic test data and mock external services (banks, KYC providers, sanctions screens) to guarantee reliable, offline test execution.
• Participate in backlog refinement, define Definition of Ready and Done, and partner with engineers to make designs testable.
• Run release readiness checklists, provide objective go/no‑go decisions and coordinate sign‑off with engineering leadership.
• Conduct exploratory and risk‑based manual testing on edge cases and adverse scenarios that cannot be automated.
• Track quality metrics (escaped defect rate, flaky test rate, coverage trends) and produce audit‑ready evidence for PCI DSS, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional QA or test‑automation experience, with at least 2 years in fintech or another regulated domain.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Stack‑agnostic automation platforms such as Katalon or Robot Framework.
• Deep API testing expertise (REST contracts, authentication, idempotency, webhook signature validation).
• Web UI automation using modern browser frameworks with robust selector strategies.
• Mobile test automation on iOS and Android, including device‑farm management (BrowserStack, Firebase Test Lab).
• Deterministic test‑data management, seeding and teardown.
• Mocking and stubbing tools like WireMock or Mountebank.
• SQL for data verification and reconciliation.
• Behaviour‑driven development using Gherkin/BDD.
• GitLab CI/CD pipeline integration and .gitlab‑ci.yml configuration.
