About the role

The University of Ghana seeks a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. The Dean will provide strategic direction, oversee teaching, research and extension activities, and ensure the School meets its academic and societal objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the School in alignment with University policies, statutes and the College of Basic and Applied Sciences objectives.
• Oversee the delivery and quality of approved academic programmes.
• Manage human, financial and material resources, including budgeting and staff development.
• Promote research excellence, attract external funding and enhance publication output.
• Foster a collegial environment and support staff capacity building.
• Represent the School in public engagement, policy development and extension services.

Required profile

• Rank of Associate Professor or equivalent industry professional eligible for appointment at that rank.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research and extension within veterinary or related disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience in a higher‑education setting.
• Track record of securing research funding and driving development initiatives.
• Visionary outlook to guide the growth and development of the School.
