About the role

The University of Ghana invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Performing Arts, within the College of Humanities. The Dean will provide strategic leadership and oversee the academic, research, and administrative functions of the School starting 1 January 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the School of Performing Arts, ensuring alignment with university policies, statutes, and the College’s objectives.
• Oversee the delivery of approved programmes across the Departments of Dance Studies, Theatre Arts, and Music.
• Manage human, financial, and material resources in accordance with university guidelines.
• Promote interdisciplinary teaching, research, and extension activities.
• Foster a collegial environment and support faculty development.
• Attract research funding and develop partnerships to enhance the School’s profile.

Required profile

• Professorial status from an academic or research institution, or equivalent senior industry experience.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research, and community engagement within performing arts disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience with capacity to build collaborative teams.
• Track record of securing research and development funding.
• Visionary outlook to drive growth and development of the School.
