Digital Education and AI-Enabled Teaching and Learning Companion Programme Support

About the role

The consultant will provide expert technical assistance for UNICEF’s Digital Education and AI‑Enabled Teaching and Learning Companion Programme in Ghana. This 14‑month assignment combines home‑based work, onsite engagement and travel to support programme implementation and scale‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate programme management, technical oversight and deployment of the AI Teacher Companion across five workstreams.
• Lead teacher professional development activities, including pre‑service and in‑service training, blended learning and professional learning communities.
• Monitor programme performance, conduct learning research and ensure data‑driven decision‑making.
• Strengthen systems, engage government partners, and support communications and scale‑up planning.
• Provide technical coordination for AI tool configuration, adaptation and operational use (e.g., Google Gemini).

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Education, Digital Education, Educational Technology, AI in Education, Instructional Design, Data Science, Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in digital education, education technology, teacher professional development or AI‑enabled learning solutions.
• Proven experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder education programmes involving governments, development partners and technology providers.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing or scaling AI‑enabled education interventions.
