Driver – Border Project

About the role

World Vision is seeking a dedicated driver to support the Border Project in Tamale and the Northern Region of Ghana. The role combines safe transportation of staff and visitors with hands‑on vehicle maintenance and fleet management to ensure uninterrupted field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, partners and visitors to field locations, ensuring safety, punctuality and professionalism.
• Oversee routine maintenance, servicing and repair of light and heavy vehicles, including preventive schedules.
• Provide hands‑on mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in the field or workshop.
• Plan and manage transport schedules for personnel, drilling equipment and other project materials.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with World Vision’s safety standards.
• Monitor fleet usage, record mileage, fuel consumption and generate performance reports for management.
• Support emergency transport needs, including urgent repairs and medical evacuations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in fleet supervision, driving, vehicle maintenance or mechanical repair.
• Diploma or equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field; valid driver’s licence for light and heavy vehicles (including 4x4 and trucks).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics and repair techniques.
• Hands‑on experience with fleet management and maintenance of multiple vehicles in field conditions.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software for tracking performance and scheduling repairs.
• Ability to manage transport logistics, maintenance schedules and emergency response.
• Understanding of safety protocols and best practices for vehicle and equipment operation.
