Head of Internal Audit

About the role

Airport Clinic Limited, located at Accra International Airport, is seeking a Head of Internal Audit. The role provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services that add value to the facility's operations, evaluates and improves risk management, internal controls and governance, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the internal audit function in line with professional standards and best practice
• Develop and implement a risk-based annual audit plan approved by the board
• Carry out financial, operational, compliance, information systems and performance audits
• Evaluate internal controls, risk management and corporate governance effectiveness
• Ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Agency Act, Public Financial Management Act, Public Procurement Act and other laws
• Review the economy and efficiency of operations and resource use
• Investigate suspected fraud and irregularities as directed
• Report findings to management and the board, monitor follow-up of recommendations and liaise with external auditors and regulators
• Provide advisory services on internal controls, risk and governance without compromising independence
• Supervise, mentor and develop internal audit staff

Required profile

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Business Administration, Economics or a related field
• Professional membership of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or an equivalent body
• At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in internal/external auditing, finance or risk management, including 3 years in a senior management or leadership position
• Knowledge of public sector governance and state-owned enterprise regulation is an advantage; IIA Ghana membership and CIA qualification are also advantageous
