Mechanical Supervisor – Winders

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. The Mechanical Supervisor – Winders will lead the refurbishment and later maintenance of winding equipment, ensuring plant availability, safety and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Apply total quality management principles to achieve zero‑defect outcomes and maintain safety standards.
• Adhere to the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Gather performance data for the Underground Maintenance Manager and generate SAP work requests.
• Conduct periodic audits and reviews of winding equipment during refurbishment and maintenance.
• Develop and execute condition‑monitoring routes, including visual checks, vibration, infrared, ultrasonic, motor‑current, flux and simple NDT measurements.
• Analyse and trend predictive‑maintenance data to diagnose equipment condition and trigger corrective actions.
• Participate in maintenance review programmes and root‑cause failure analysis.

Required profile

• Experienced mechanical supervisor with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a high‑risk underground environment.
• Strong understanding of winding equipment and rotating‑machinery maintenance.
• Ability to interpret and act on condition‑monitoring data.
