Mine Captain – Production

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised, high‑efficiency underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Mine Captain – Production to lead quality assurance, risk management and contractor engagement for ore extraction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk‑management and contractor processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly production plan (4‑3‑2‑1) aligned with budgeted targets.
• Prepare and manage the annual cost‑centre budget for production outputs.
• Deliver production results within approved budgets, timelines and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote a strong safety, health and sustainability culture.
• Provide resources, systems and expertise to develop the production team.
• Drive project implementation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to achieve the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Strong leadership, managerial and technical capabilities across the mining value chain.
• Commercial acumen and ability to interpret data for tactical decisions.
