Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant

About the role

The Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant is responsible for safely running the primary ventilation fans and the refrigeration plant at the Obuasi surface mine infrastructure. The role supports both refurbishment projects and day‑to‑day production, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian regulations and AngloGold Ashanti safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS, pastefill) and the fridge plant in accordance with instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Perform daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks, reporting any anomalies.
• Monitor short‑interval controls, escalating equipment issues to maintenance.
• Prepare checklists, transport tools, and ensure all required equipment is available for tasks.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and manage work orders in SAP, including opening and closing orders.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams for mechanical refurbishment and planned works.
• Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and health‑safety legislation.

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate and a recognized trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five years post‑apprenticeship experience in a related mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Ability to work independently, take personal responsibility for health and safety, and follow site procedures.

• Fridge plant operation and monitoring.
