Post-Discharge Newborn Community Follow-up Consultant (Part-time)

About the role
This part‑time consultancy supports the national scale‑up of a community‑based follow‑up model for small and sick newborns discharged from health facilities in Ghana. The consultant will develop standard operating procedures, training materials, and build capacity of regional trainers.
Key responsibilities
- Organise and lead an inception meeting with key stakeholders to gather feedback on proposed methods.
- Draft a national Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document based on pilot review and stakeholder interviews.
- Conduct consultative and validation meetings with partners and experts to refine the SOPs.
- Develop PowerPoint slides and PDF training materials for healthcare workers.
- Facilitate Training‑of‑Trainers sessions for national and regional trainers.
- Submit a final report with recommendations to the Ghana Health Service and UNICEF.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in public health, pediatric health, health policy, epidemiology or related field.
- Minimum 7 years professional experience in newborn care within Ghana, with proven clinical and community health expertise.
- Strong understanding of Ghana’s RMNCAHN services and health system.
- Prior experience developing SOPs or training materials in the health sector.
- Demonstrated capacity in community health program and policy development, including data collection from health workers.
- Excellent analytical, facilitation and high‑level stakeholder engagement skills.
