Rigger and Ropesman

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Rigger and Ropesman to join our team and ensure safe, efficient handling of heavy loads and rigging equipment on site.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and operate lifting and rigging equipment in compliance with company standards and legislation.
• Store and issue rigging tools safely, managing an issuing and receiving store.
• Hoist, move, tilt, dip and turn loads using cables, pulleys, winches and chain falls.
• Fabricate, set up, repair and dismantle rigging, supporting structures, hoists and pulling gear.
• Attach pulleys, blocks and ground rigging to fixed overhead structures and yarding lines.
• Conduct hazardous inspections, report defects and stop operations when safety risks are identified.
• Promote a zero‑tolerance safety culture and adhere to the site’s Environmental Management Plan.

Required profile

• Secondary education level.
• Mobile Crane Riggers certificate.
• Minimum 3 years proven experience in rigging or a comparable construction field.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools.
• Legal requirement: Mincom Certificate of Competency.
• Fully literate and numerate.
