Senior Cost Estimator

About the role

The Senior Cost Estimator will lead the preparation of accurate, auditable and competitive cost estimates and tender pricing for the company's projects in Ghana. Reporting to the Technical Office Manager, you will integrate scope, quantities, methods, programme, resources, market rates, risk and commercial assumptions into decision‑ready estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Translate tender priorities and manager direction into detailed estimating work plans with clear responsibilities and review dates.
• Maintain estimating procedures, templates, coding structures, checklists and approval gates, ensuring version control and peer‑review standards.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and contract conditions; prepare execution plans covering work packages, contributors and deadlines.
• Develop complete work breakdown structures and cost‑code mappings, identifying exclusions, provisional quantities and client‑supplied items.
• Direct and verify quantity take‑offs from approved drawings and models, performing BOQ verification and reasonableness checks.
• Collaborate with operations, design and planning to define construction methods, sequencing, temporary works and production assumptions.
• Build transparent unit‑rate cost models for labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, waste, transport and production output.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in construction cost estimating and tender preparation.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage estimating teams and governance processes.
• Excellent analytical ability to identify scope gaps, pricing risks and unrealistic assumptions.
• Proven track record of delivering accurate, auditable estimates on time.
