Electrical Engineer – Transmission Line & Substation

About the role

Electrofax Engineering Services (GH) Limited is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide technical engineering support for design review, construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and energization of a 161 kV transmission line and substation relocation works. The role involves ensuring compliance with utility standards, overseeing installation activities, and verifying as‑built documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Review transmission line and substation engineering designs for compliance with utility standards and codes.
• Supervise installation of transmission line structures, conductors, insulators, OPGW, and related accessories.
• Monitor substation equipment installation, including transformers, switchgear, CTs, PTs, protection and control systems.
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) and review protection and control schemes.
• Conduct inspections, technical assessments, and resolve issues during construction and commissioning.
• Verify as‑built documentation and engineering records, and participate in system testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Ensure adherence to electrical safety requirements and permit‑to‑work systems.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years experience in high‑voltage transmission line and substation projects (161 kV or above).
• Experience with transmission line relocation, substation construction, protection systems, and commissioning.
• Membership of a recognized professional engineering institution (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of utility standards, engineering codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, remote locations, and under demanding schedules.
