Senior Emergency Preparedness & Response Officer

About the role

The Senior Emergency Preparedness & Response Officer will lead technical support and oversight of the STRIDES emergency response activities in Ghana. This role supervises professional staff and rapid response teams, ensuring alignment with workplans and donor expectations while fostering capacity building across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day implementation of emergency preparedness and response initiatives across Ghana.
• Develop and apply evaluation methods for emerging infectious disease threats and outbreak events.
• Coordinate with STRIDES senior management, monitoring & evaluation, and communications teams to track performance and highlight success stories.
• Lead the creation and revision of workplans, best‑practice documents, and training strategies within budget constraints.
• Prepare and deliver donor reports, publications, and external communications on emergency response achievements.
• Engage with USG, host‑country government, and other in‑country partners to coordinate outbreak response efforts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in emergency preparedness, outbreak response, and infectious disease detection systems.
• Strong judgment and ability to operate with minimal supervision in rapidly evolving situations.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and managing rapid‑response operations.
• Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and development of technical materials.
