Utility Equipment Operator – Mining

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Utility Equipment Operator to work on the Ahafo Mine in Ghana. The successful candidate will operate a range of small mining equipment, ensuring safe and efficient support for road works, channel clean‑ups and general site maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate small excavators, loaders, rock breakers, telehandlers and compactors according to daily plans.
• Attend pre‑shift briefings, receive instructions from the Mine Operations Shift Supervisor and follow load‑and‑haul and de‑watering schedules.
• Complete pre‑shift equipment inspections using the designated checklist and report any hazards.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard task procedures (STPs) while performing assigned tasks.
• Participate in job hazard analyses for non‑routine activities and sign‑off identified hazards with the supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping and uphold Newmont’s safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Prior experience operating utility mining equipment in an on‑site environment.
• Ability to read and follow checklists, SOPs and safety instructions.
• Strong awareness of safety practices and willingness to report hazards.
• Effective communication with supervisors and team members.
