Winder Engineer – Electrical

About the role

The Electrical Winder Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and control of winding equipment at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role ensures that all electrical systems are safe, compliant and optimised to maximise plant availability while supporting the mine’s transition to a fully mechanised operation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control the quality of maintenance activities on winding equipment to ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
• Apply HSE regulations and conduct inspections, audits and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) to maintain a zero‑tolerance safety environment.
• Investigate process interruptions and use analysis tools to drive continuous improvement.
• Collect and report data on construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities in line with Ghanaian regulatory approvals and the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Define roles and accountabilities for the underground maintenance team, recruit and develop staff according to company localisation policies.
• Communicate policies, provide technical guidance and develop a skills matrix to address any capability gaps.

Required profile

• Experienced electrical engineer with a background in mining or heavy‑industry equipment.
• Self‑motivated, safety‑focused and able to work under strict compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage training plans and support localisation objectives.
• Strong analytical mindset for investigating incidents and driving process improvements.
