Workshop Mechanic – Vehicle & Fleet

About the role

We are looking for a Workshop Mechanic specialising in vehicle and fleet maintenance. The role involves servicing, diagnosing, repairing and overhauling company vehicles and mobile plant to ensure safety, compliance and operational availability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled services (A, B and major) on light vehicles, trucks and mobile plant, including oil, filter, fluid, belt and brake changes.
• Carry out safety inspections, roadworthiness checks and record findings on job cards.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and drivetrain faults using test equipment and diagnostic scan tools.
• Repair or replace engines, gearboxes, clutches, differentials, suspension, steering and braking components, ensuring correct torque, clearances and alignment.
• Service hydraulic systems, perform basic auto‑electrical work and replace sensors.
• Respond to breakdowns on site or on the road, participate in standby and call‑out rotations.
• Document all work, parts used and labour hours in the fleet maintenance system and manage parts requisitions.
• Follow HSE procedures, use lock‑out/tag‑out and wear required PPE at all times.

Required profile

• Ability to work largely unsupervised and deliver quality work the first time.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping.
• Willingness to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
