Assistant Branch Manager

About the role

Suma Rural Bank PLC is seeking motivated professionals to join its branch network as Assistant Branch Managers. In this role you will support the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations, driving business growth, and ensuring excellent customer service within a rural banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager in managing day‑to‑day branch activities, including cash handling, transaction processing, and compliance monitoring.
• Support the development and implementation of sales targets, product promotion, and customer acquisition strategies.
• Monitor and report on branch performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff, fostering a collaborative team culture.

Required profile

• First degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Marketing or a related discipline.
• Minimum of four (4) years of banking experience, preferably in a rural or community bank setting.
• Level 3 professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, ACIB, ICSA or CIM (UK).
• Strong analytical abilities and a customer‑focused mindset.

Required skills

• Professional banking certifications (CA, ACCA, ACIB, ICSA, CIM).
• Knowledge of banking operations, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
