Assistant Sales Manager (Local Hire)

About the role

The Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for achieving hotel revenue targets by managing an assigned account base and prospecting new clients in assigned markets, which may change according to hotel needs. Performance is measured against revenue goals. The role covers key account management, new account prospecting, site inspections and support to the Director of Sales.

Key responsibilities

• Manage key accounts on an assigned base or geographic area to maximise revenue, meet personal targets and increase fair market share against competitors.
• Prospect new accounts across all segments of the assigned markets, which may include European markets.
• Conduct site inspections and follow up tentative bookings.
• Negotiate contracts and annual rates smartly to yield the best results.
• Attend trade shows, sales blitzes and workshops in the assigned markets.
• Assist the Director of Sales / Director of Sales & Marketing with the annual sales action plan, annual budget forecasts and execution within the cost budget.
• Document sales actions in SFA (S&C), update the OPERA contact database and cross-sell other Kempinski hotels.
• Follow corporate SOPs, the company sales vision and the Duty Manager rota.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a 4/5 star hotel.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Strong understanding of sales and marketing principles and best practices.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CRM software and sales technologies such as Micros Fidelio, Opera and Sales & Catering.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong negotiation and selling skills.
