About the role
The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an Assistant Sweetpotato Breeder to support its Sweetpotato for Profit and Health Initiative in Ghana. The role will assist the regional breeder in implementing a breeding program focused on developing varieties with high dry matter and processing characteristics for West African consumers.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with management of all aspects of the breeding program, including germplasm maintenance, hybridization, trial planting, sample management, data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Coordinate closely with CSIR‑CRI and CIP researchers, technicians, students and partner organizations to achieve program objectives across multiple sites.
Required profile
- Minimum MS degree in plant breeding, agronomy or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience managing trials in an applied breeding program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; methodical, organized and results‑oriented.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficiency in data collection, management and analysis; computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
