Bioinformatics / Computational Genomics Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

ZettaMine is seeking experienced Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics experts to design and evaluate AI-driven genomics tasks. This short‑term remote contractor role focuses on creating realistic, multi‑step computational biology problems and reference solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design challenging model‑evaluative tasks using real genomics data (FASTA/FASTQ, VCF, BAM/SAM, etc.) for the GeneBench Pro platform.
• Develop multi‑step analysis pipelines in Python and command‑line tools, ensuring reproducibility and deterministic ground truths.
• Create detailed task specifications, input datasets, expected output schemas, and robust grading criteria.
• Validate scientific correctness of tasks and produce expert reference solutions.
• Document workflows, communicate progress and blockers, and incorporate reviewer feedback.

Required profile

• Ph.D., post‑doctoral experience, or equivalent research background in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics or related fields.
• Strong hands‑on programming experience in Python and comfortable working in Linux/command‑line environments.
• Proven ability to design and solve realistic, multi‑step computational biology problems.
• Full‑time availability (40 h/week) with at least 4 hours overlap with PST working hours.
