Civil Engineer – Transmission Line & Substation Relocation

About the role

We are looking for a Civil Engineer to manage and supervise all civil and structural engineering aspects of a transmission line and substation relocation project in Accra. The role involves ensuring that all civil works meet the required specifications, standards and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve civil engineering designs and construction drawings.
• Supervise foundation construction for transmission towers and substation equipment.
• Oversee site grading, access roads, drainage systems, retaining structures and building works.
• Ensure compliance with approved specifications and construction standards.
• Review geotechnical reports and recommend appropriate foundation solutions.
• Conduct site inspections and quality verification activities.
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity and progress certifications.
• Coordinate civil works with electrical installation activities.

Required profile

• BSc in Civil Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in power infrastructure projects, including transmission line foundations and substation civil works.
• Experience with roads, drainage, retaining structures and structural works.
• Knowledge of geotechnical investigations and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with high‑voltage transmission projects (161 kV or above preferred).
• Strong understanding of utility standards, engineering codes and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and remote project locations.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety, environmental stewardship and ethical conduct.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in engineering/project management software.
