About the role
Plan International is seeking a dynamic Country Director to lead its operations in Ghana. The role combines strategic oversight, programme delivery, and high‑level representation to advance the organisation’s mission of child rights, gender equality and inclusive development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Ghana team, ensuring compliance with local laws and Plan International policies.
- Implement the Country Strategy and manage the annual planning and budgeting process.
- Deliver high‑quality programmes that actively involve girls, boys, young people and persons with disabilities, following Plan’s Program Quality Procedures.
- Grow and manage a grant portfolio, securing timely funding while honoring donor and community commitments.
- Integrate emergency readiness into programme planning and lead response interventions when needed.
- Represent Plan International to government authorities, key decision‑makers and external partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with government bodies, ensuring legal compliance and achievement of strategic priorities.
- Identify and proactively manage risks, including safeguarding, safety, fraud, legal and reputational risks.
- Champion gender‑transformative and inclusive approaches across the workplace, projects and stakeholder interactions.
Required profile
- Deep cultural understanding and proven leadership experience in international development or similarly diverse contexts.
- Strong knowledge of Ghana’s historical, socio‑political and regulatory environment.
- Extensive experience in senior leadership positions with a track record of delivering results.
- Demonstrated expertise in child rights and gender‑in‑development and humanitarian contexts.
