Credit Officer

About the role

VITALITY HEALTH INSURANCE is seeking a proactive Credit Officer to drive loan product growth and manage credit portfolios across Accra and Tema. The role involves marketing loan services, conducting credit appraisals, and ensuring timely loan disbursement and recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Actively market and promote all loan products and services.
• Source and acquire new credit clients while maintaining existing relationships.
• Assist in appraisal, approval, disbursement and recovery of loans.
• Conduct credit appraisals, financial analyses and recommend applications for approval.
• Perform due diligence and ensure adequate collateralization of approved facilities.
• Develop repayment plans and provide strategic business advice to borrowers.
• Meet loan disbursement and portfolio growth targets.
• Ensure prompt collection and recovery within assigned portfolios.
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly performance reports to management.
• Analyse competitor activities and market trends to contribute to innovative loan products.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience, including at least one year in credit management.
• Demonstrated expertise in loan portfolio growth, monitoring, recovery and risk management.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and personal lending, credit analysis, loan structuring, securities and recovery processes.
• Good working knowledge of banking systems and at least one banking software application.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Results‑oriented with ability to achieve and exceed targets.
• Familiarity with the Bank of Ghana Collateral Registry Platform is an advantage.
• Prior experience as a Credit Analyst is a plus.
