Deputy Internal Auditor (University)

About the role

The University seeks a dynamic, self‑motivated Deputy Internal Auditor to coordinate and supervise all auditing functions, ensuring compliance with national finance and audit regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Audit in managing the audit office in line with the Technical Universities Act, 2016 and related regulations.
• Control and maintain all financial transactions and accounting records, adhering to general accounting standards and government rules.
• Review monthly and annual financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare operating budgets, oversee multi‑year fiscal planning, and coordinate the annual audit.
• Analyse budgets for the Director of Audit’s review.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate personnel within the Audit Directorate.
• Develop, implement and maintain auditing and administrative policies and procedures for the University.

Required profile

• Research Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant membership (ACCA, ICA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum six (6) years of senior internal audit experience in a university, industry, or public practice with managerial responsibility.
• Ability to provide scholarly papers or position papers for external assessment.
• Computer literate and proficient with accounting/auditing software applications.
• Analytical, critical, result‑oriented, innovative and visionary mindset.
• Strong independent work capability and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Membership of CISA is an added advantage.
