Director of Infrastructure

About the role

The Director of Infrastructure leads the teams responsible for the organization’s networks, servers, cloud platforms, data centres and end‑user computing environments. This senior position sets technical strategy, owns budgets and ensures the infrastructure scales reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own a multi‑year infrastructure strategy for on‑premises, cloud and hybrid environments aligned with business goals.
• Lead and develop infrastructure engineers, system administrators, network engineers and operations staff across multiple disciplines.
• Own the infrastructure capital and operating budget, forecast spend, manage vendor contracts and defend variances to senior leadership.
• Drive cloud architecture and migration programs, establishing governance, cost controls and platform standards across AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Partner with security leadership to ensure designs meet zero‑trust, compliance and hardening requirements.
• Oversee disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity programs, including tabletop exercises and RTO/RPO commitments.
• Manage major vendor relationships with hardware OEMs, cloud providers, colocation facilities and managed‑service partners.
• Establish and report on SLAs, uptime metrics and capacity utilisation dashboards for executive and board audiences.
• Lead incident management for P1 and P2 outages, conduct post‑incident reviews and track long‑term remediation.
• Evaluate and approve architectural decisions, technology refreshes, platform consolidations and new tooling investments.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large, cross‑functional infrastructure and operations teams.
• Strong financial acumen with responsibility for capital and operating budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute cloud migration and hybrid‑cloud strategies.
• Experience working closely with security teams to implement zero‑trust architectures.
• Track record of managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
