Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

Sunda International seeks a proactive Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead the upkeep of its self‑owned trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles across Accra and Tema. You will ensure vehicles are serviced on schedule, breakdowns are swiftly resolved, and fleet availability remains high.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all fleet assets.
• Diagnose and coordinate repairs of breakdowns and major mechanical faults.
• Supervise maintenance technicians, assign tasks and inspect completed work for quality.
• Oversee maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, braking, suspension, steering, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of recurring faults to minimise repeat breakdowns.
• Manage procurement, inventory and usage of spare parts, tools and consumables.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing, breakdowns and component replacements.
• Monitor maintenance costs, parts consumption, repair efficiency and vehicle availability.
• Coordinate with drivers to identify defects and arrange timely repairs.
• Liaise with external workshops, contractors and service providers as needed.
• Prepare regular reports on fleet status, breakdown rates, costs and availability.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in commercial or heavy‑duty vehicle maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or workshop‑management role.
• Proven experience maintaining trucks, trailers or heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking, suspension, steering and electrical systems.
• Solid understanding of preventive and breakdown maintenance processes.
• Experience in spare‑parts management and maintenance cost control.
• Familiarity with vehicle safety inspections and road safety regulations.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and coordination abilities.
