Head of Basic Medical Sciences – Academic Leadership

About the role

Central University is seeking a Head of Basic Medical Sciences to provide academic and administrative leadership within the department, overseeing teaching and supervision of medical students. The role includes fulfilling senior academic obligations and supporting the Dean and Vice Chancellor as required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership to the Basic Medical Sciences department, guiding curriculum development and research initiatives.
• Deliver teaching and supervisory services to medical students across anatomy, physiology, and medical biochemistry courses.
• Fulfill all obligations expected of a senior academic member, including committee participation and mentorship of junior staff.
• Execute any additional duties assigned by the Dean or Vice Chancellor to support university objectives.

Required profile

• Hold the rank of Senior Lecturer (or higher) at a recognized tertiary institution.
• Possess a PhD or terminal degree in Anatomy, Physiology, or Medical Biochemistry.
• Have previous experience in a similar senior academic role, which will be considered an advantage.
