Head of Engineering (.NET Core, React)

About the role

The Head of Engineering provides technical leadership across web, mobile, and backend platforms. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will own the end‑to‑end technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and mentor a growing team of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce architectural standards for modular monoliths, micro‑services, and Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) implementations.
• Partner with Product Owners and Project Managers to clarify requirements, break epics into deliverable slices, and plan sprints and releases.
• Lead code reviews, pair programming, and design sessions to ensure high quality, test coverage, and documentation.
• Guide the development of user experiences on web (React/Next.js) and mobile (React Native), focusing on performance, state management, and accessibility.
• Own backend design in .NET Core, including API design, security, resilient patterns, and background processing.
• Drive database schema design, migrations, indexing, and query optimisation.
• Establish observability, monitoring, and alerting foundations for system health.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and the cultivation of an engineering culture centred on ownership and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience as a full‑stack engineer, tech lead, or similar role delivering production‑grade products.
• Strong system‑design skills with the ability to communicate architectural trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering high‑performance teams.
• Hands‑on experience shipping web, mobile, and backend solutions.
